Dailymakassar.id. MAKASSAR. The Mayor of Makassar, Moh Ramdhan ‘Danny’ Pomanto, added the roles and duties of the Detector Task Force of Makassar Recovery Program (MR) from the task of mass screening to become Vaccination and Mask Ambassador in all neighborhood units (RT) throughout Makassar City.
Danny added the role of the Detector Task Force after consulting with professors of medical science, professors of public health sciences, and expert doctors, in a virtual meeting the day before.
“From the results of the meeting with professors who have competence in the field of pandemics and health, including doctors, according to expert advice, we modified the duties of the detectors to become vaccination and mask ambassador in their regions,” Danny said in a press statement at his residence, Amirullah Street, Saturday (17/7/2021).
As maintained by Danny, based on the rate of increase in the number of positive Covid-19 patients in Makassar City, and according to the advice of public health experts, the Makassar City Government is required to immediately accelerate the process of vaccinating its citizens, with a target of 1.1 million people receiving the vaccine.
“The initial target of the number of people being vaccinated in Makassar was 240 thousand people, the total currently being vaccinated is 340 thousand people, now the target is increased to 1.1 million people, so we have to work hard to achieve the target in order to create herd immunity with the number of residents 70 percent of the total population has been vaccinated,” mentioned Danny.
To achieve this target, Danny will also deploy 1,000 trained vaccinators to carry out simultaneous vaccinations in 5 urban villages every day, involving health workers from 9 community health centers (Puskesmas) in Makassar City. This city has 47 Puskesmas spread over 15 sub-districts.
“The vaccination process is carried out in 5 villages per day involving health workers from 9 health centers across sub-districts, so that the vaccination target of 1.1 million people can be achieved next month,” Danny added.
As for the screening task for Makassar residents, it will continue to prioritize the tracing function of the Covid Hunter Task Force, for residents who have indications or are confirmed to be positive for Covid-19.
Meanwhile, in addition to vaccination ambassadors, the detector volunteers will also be assigned to be mask ambassadors, who are tasked with providing counseling in all RTs in their area, so that all Makassar residents protect from exposure to the corona virus by wearing masks when leaving the house.
