Dailymakassar.id. MAKASSAR. The spread of the COVID-19 which increased in the last week has prompted the Mayor of Makassar, Moh Ramdhan “Danny” Pomanto, to immediately take tactical steps. Not waiting for the spike to explode, Danny immediately made sure his medical needs were met.

Danny made this assertion when chairing the Makassar Recover and integrated floating isolation coordination meeting held in the Sipakatau Room, Makassar City Office, Wednesday (21/7/2021).

The two-term mayor invited all heads of Makassar Offices (SKPD), sub-district, community health centers (Puskesmas), Covid Masters, and the floating isolation team to jointly formulate steps to suppress the rise in the COVID-19 graph.

The Makassar Recover program, which assigned Detector Task Force, Raika Task Force, and Covid Hunter, is expected to save the lives of the Makassar people from exposure to the COVID-19 considering the new variant of COVID-19 that spreads faster.

“Thank you to everyone for the cooperation. The detector task force has been working optimally and it was found that several residents were indicated to be exposed to COVID-19. This is also in accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic of Indonesia which requires supervision to be carried out from the neighborhood and community unit (RT/RW) level,” Danny explained.

Further, Mayor Danny said that he would add medical personnel from five universities in Makassar to support team work in the field

“We are adding personnels so that this rescue mission can run optimally. The target is that community vaccinations can run 100% every day. It takes team. Therefore, additional volunteers and medical personnel are prepared,” he added.

Meanwhile, in order to avoid people who are late in getting medical assistance and services, he plainly asked that stocks be taken care of and must have reserves.

“We have to prepare reserves, whatever I will do for the people of Makassar. Drugs, vitamins, Genose, antigens, PCR and oxygen must be in sufficient condition and stock is available. We are on guard so that there is no spike,” he emphasized.

There are also obstacles faced by the team in the field, such as residents who refuse PCR and vaccination. Concerning this, Danny asked for the participation of heads of village and sub-district to provide education.

“The duties of the heads of sub-district and village are education on masks, vaccination and PCR for the community. Eliminate people’s fears and provide correct health information so that the team can work optimally,” he asked.

In these times, Makassar City has the availability of 400,000 antigens, and 12,000 PCR whose working system is able to detect 4 types of Covid variants. Meanwhile, oxygen cylinders will soon be added and distributed to puskesmas in Makassar City.

Currently, the team on duty is divided into 3 schedules, namely at 08.00-17.00 WITA as many as 10,000 personnel, and at 17.00-24.00 WITA in the area of each sub-district and at 24.00-08.00 WITA focusing on 5 electoral districts that have been divided. The floating isolation is planned to start operating on next Monday. [Ib]
